So…..

What a fun week! I know, I know, I say that all the time but this week I’m shooting with the prolific Joe Morahan doing our long awaited yoga shoot. He’s so talented and I’m so excited. I have my awesome friend and the best MUA in the world, Kara Criswell, doing make up so working with the two of them it’s bound to be a success…assuming my old, decrepit body will hold up. đŸ™‚ Joe gave me about 100 poses to work on and not wanting to disappoint I’ve been doing yoga pretty much daily for the past month, along with running and cross fit, to make sure I’m up to the challenge. Most of them I knew from practicing yoga for so long but a few were new so it’s been fun to push it a little bit.

I shot a chip commercial last week, again along the lines of the yoga theme. It was a bag of chips trying to do yoga with me and two other girls but since all he had in his belly was junk food, he wasn’t able to do it. It was for a new line of healthier chips. Again, a lot of fun and I met some awesome people. I’m excited to see the end result although a little bummed out I didn’t get to try the chips. All the bags on set were props. My tummy was grumbling.

I also did a two day shoot for lab coats. Yes. Lab coats and you wouldn’t believe how many lab coat varieties there are. I even got to don a full body suit and hood. I’ll try to get some behind the scene shots to post since it was quite a riot. It could have been a really boring shoot but the photographer, Jeff Finkelstein, made it  quirky. He  had me doing yoga and acting out various skits in the lab coats. Not sure if those pictures turned out any good but it was a nice break to stuffy shots. Thanks, Jeff!

The production management side of work is in full swing and I have a lot of fun upcoming shoots that I’m looking for models…so if you’re a model, get in touch with me and we’ll see how we can work together. Colorado Rocks!

Wow, I wrote all this stuff and somehow it didn’t post so here’s the abbreviated version.

Fun shoot last week with Mark Woolcott… check out a pic that I got back. Awesome hair by Jesse Arana and make up by Kara Criswell. Both are awesome and I look forward to working with them in the future.  Kara and I are going to work on the Joe Morahan shoot together, which due to weather, has been pushed off for a few weeks. We finally have a date set and I’m so looking forward to working with him again. He’s the awesome-est. Seriously, I need to stop saying that word. He’s the greatest, I’ll just say that. Here’s the pick from Mark (aka World Wide)

I just finished the China shoot (again). We had a few pick up shots to get as well as we had to reshoot two lessons, which we did today. I’m sure as they edit the final 24 lessons we’ll find more things we forgot but for now, it’s complete. But that doesn’t mean I’m done with Boulder just yet….I have a 2-3 day shoot in Boulder next week so I get to do the drive again and again.

I also have a fun shoot with my dear friend Kerry Barley this Friday and a new photographer that I’ve never worked with, so that should be fun. I’m looking forward to it and I’ll post some pictures once  I get them.

So that’s this week. Busy? Yes. Creative? Maybe. Earth Shaking? Probably Not.

New pictures….

Week of April 16th, 2012

Here are a couple of my newest headshots.

Can you believe we’re already half through April? Honestly, where does the time go? I feel like I blink and I’ve missed a week. Do you feel that way too? I remember as a child a week would drag on forever and now I can’t seem to hold on to a day even when I try as hard as I can. I wonder if time seems to go faster the older you get since you look back on so much time past.

So, here’s the latest in the ever exciting life of Kari White. Still doing the English lesson website. It’s almost done, which again, shows how quickly time flies. I think we have three more solid days of filming and then maybe one more day of picking up anything we might have missed. I’m going to be sad when it’s over although they say they have more lessons in the works and more new and exciting things to come. I’ve grown very used to heading up to Boulder twice a week and very comfortable in that green room with the guys I’m working with. Which reminds me, they started up The Boulder Food Blog on Facebook and since I was sort of initiated into it with all the wonderful lunches we’ve gone on, I was told I need to start  promoting it more. Check it out on Facebook. These guys know all the best places to eat in Boulder and all the best plates to sample. I am getting chunky with all the delicious food I’ve been eating. Love it (the food, not the chunk).

I have a shoot with a company for American Recreation Inc, (Kelty, Isis for Women, Sierra Designs, Slumberjack, etc.) on Friday, which should be fun. It’s an outdoor camping apparel and equipment shoot so I’m playing the mom in our little family of four + two dogs. My friend Steve, who I’ve worked with in the past, is going to be the dad so should be a fun time. If I get some pictures back, I’ll be sure to post them here. (check under behind the scenes). It’s a late afternoon/evening shoot so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for warm weather.

Speaking of warm weather, Joe Morahan and I have had to move our shoot twice due to less than desirable weather. So…we’ll see about this Wednesday, maybe it will get done. It’s going to be such an awesome spec commercial that we want to be sure everything is perfect. I’m really excited for this. It should be an awesome end result knowing Joe and his amazing talent.

Other than that, I’m starting to shoot some educational type of training videos starting this Saturday. We’re doing a test run to see if I like them and they like me but it seems like a fun group of people so I have good feelings about it. It’s an on going job, which is always nice, and they drink wine after every shoot, which is even better, so it sounds like my kind of group. Mmm, wine.

On a final note, go to www.theoldstudio.net. I have a spot right on their home page advertising my production management services. I got into production management a while back organizing some various shoots and The Old Studio contacted me about doing them for their studio. Now I’m offering my services through them and exclusively for a few photographers around town. I have to say, I really enjoy the work. So, if you need a shoot organized or managed, get in touch with me!

XOXO, Kari

April 1st, 2012

I’m back!!!! I had all last week off went to Costa Rica, which was am-ah-zing. I flew into Liberia and drove about 2 1/2 hours to this little surfing town which was like a little slice of paradise. I never wanted to come home but, alas, the week ended and here I am, back and ready to work. This week is going to be busy. We’re starting to film the English lessons again and I’m doing a video shoot with Joe Morahan on Wednesday. If you don’t know his work, check him out at www.joemorahan.com. He’s awesome and so talented.

The day after I got back I filmed a video short with No Budget Video again and it was a riot. Those guys are so fun and I laughed the entire time. I’ll post the video once we get a finished version but I think it’s going to be hilarious. Just based on the scenes I saw, I couldn’t stop laughing. I love working with this group and we have a lot more shoots lined up for the near future.

Here’s a couple Costa Rica pics. Buenos noches amigos.

Week of March 19th, 2012

It’s a relatively slow week since I’m winding down to take a little bit of a vacation. I was going to film the next four lessons for the English website today but I got in a little bit of a fender bender and our videographer developed a kidney stone so all of our best laid plans came crashing to a halt. This did give me the entire day to deal with my insurance company and auto body quotes. Just what I love to do on my first day off in a long time. Ahhhh….

So, not much new to tell right now but I am going to post a few pictures from our super fun Copper shoot last week with Orage clothing. These are raw and I’ll put the ones that have been touched up in my portfolio once I get them. I’m also posting the latest Boulder Edge. Here’s to a good spring!

Last week, huh, last week…? It’s Sunday night and I can’t remember what I did last week. Everything is blurring into one since last week was a whirlwind of activity. We finished filming the first 24 of the 48 English lessons and now its editing time. This means I get a little bit of a break before we start up on the second round in early April.

I helped out on a shoot today with 20+ kids, which was awesome. The kids were great, the shoot went smoothly and there was a great crew on the set. I think we got some amazing shots.

This week I have Boulder Edge and a shoot in Copper so it’s a relatively slow week compared to the last few weeks. I’m looking forward to having some time to get caught up, although next week I’ll be stir crazy if it’s not busy again. đŸ™‚

Here’s a picture from my last shoot with Mark Stevens. There’s more to come so I’ll post them as I get them.

Week of February 27th, 2012

Life is good. No, I mean it. Sometimes we get so caught up in how busy we are that we forget how good we have it. This week has been no exception to that. I was in Boulder three times this week for all day shoots so I’m leaving the house early and getting home late, which means I’m tired, sort of cranky and usually very hungry. But LIFE IS GOOD. The English tutor website shoot is going strong and we’ve filmed 16 out of the initial 24 lessons. We have another 24 lessons after that but it’s a good start. I have two other super fun jobs in the works, one I’m so excited about that I don’t want to talk about it in fear of jinxing it. đŸ™‚ Another Boulder Edge came out today and I have a fun shoot with one of my favorite photographers tomorrow. That’s just this week. Next week is a whole other beast but I’m looking at it day by day and trying to enjoy the ride, which is a ride I have stood in line for a long time waiting to get on. Must go to bed now but I’ll be back in a few days with the upcoming excitement of next week. So much goodness, so little time.

XOXO, me

I’m having a total writer’s block right now so here are the highlights…

Check out Boulder Edge this week at www.BoulderEdgeTv.com

Tomorrow I’m starting to shoot an educational video series of 50 lessons for a website teaching English. So cool, right? Me, a teacher. Who would have thinked it could possible ever be.

I had a shoot today for legs with my dear friend Lew Colgan. Yep, that’s right, legs. Which is so great since I don’t have to worry about my hair or make up and only about goosebumps which I have very little control over anyway. Here’s a few pictures.

Circle K Commercial – Tell me how you want it

Yay! I figured out how to post a couple of my Circle K commercials. I feel slightly less technologically-challenged. Just slightly….
